Moped winter conservation

Here are some tips to help your moped safely spend the winter season.

Longer conservation periods (4-6 months)

  1. Clean and grease the chain using a chain spray.
  2. Unscrew the spark plug and remove any carbon deposits. Spray 5-10 cc of two stroke motor oil through the spark plug hole into the cylinder using a syringe. Now kick the starter a couple of times to allow the oil to disperse on the cylinder surface. Screw the spark plug back in.
  3. Pump the tires to 130 % of moped factory prescribed pressure (not necessary if tires don't touch the ground, eg. if the moped is put on the center stand).
  4. Completely fill up the fuel tank and close the fuel valve to avoid rust formation.
  5. Clean the moped with a soft damp cloth (not necessary, but recommended).

Shorter conservation periods (2-3 months)

  1. Completely fill up the fuel tank and close the fuel valve to avoid rust formation.
  2. Start the moped every month and let it run for 5 minutes at idle RPM.
